No good reason to post this aside from the fact that I think it's hilarious. Via [info]caffeineguy.

I went to see Billy Corgan last night at Webster Hall and came out tired and somewhat dissappointed. The first opening act, Doris Henson, was young and enthused and managed to get the crowd into it, but they were followed by the horrifyingly unwelcome Crimea. People hardly even applauded after their songs. Very cold reception, and frankly it was kind of deserved though they worked hard. Billy's set was a meager 55 minutes or so. The set up was a Germanic, gothy industrial, 80's synth indie rock type thing. Electronic drum pads, two synth people and a mac computer. And Billy on electric guitar. He seemed somewhat melancholic, ironically, and not that into it so much. The crowd ate it up and when it was over I was left with the juxtaposed feeling of relief that I could go home and anger for getting only one hours worth of music for my $35. The relief about going home mainly had to do with the fact that I got there at 8ish and the first band didn't end up going on til way after 9, with the second opener starting at 10 and Billy just before 11. So I was glad and pissed it was over, all at the same time.

The best thing about the night was the beautiful stage filling white wall that blasted pixelated light imagery into the room from behind the band. It looked gorgeous. The other best thing about the night was the female backing vocalist/synth rock chick. She looked like the perfect 80's rock chick transposed onto a current williamsburg inhabitant. The lightwall WAS amazing. Not worth $35 though.

The lightwall

The rock chick, though she looked even cooler on stage in her 80's get up. Her name is Linda Strawberry btw.

I dream of how wonderful it must be and how I am excited for and proud of her. Study abroad is such a magical period and I hope it's the time of her life. I hope she lives with Spidermonkeys.

Tonight Echolalia and LM broke up amicably. But still, it's like breaking up with a girlfriend you liked and care for so you want the best for them and you feel like giving them advice on the break up, like not to hang out with a certain boy [ie not to schedule a show a certain day], but then you feel out of line saying it, so you swallow it and realize they are now on their own legs and big girls themselves and you have no right anymore. But you still care.

Missed the Moveable Hype event last night. I bet it was awesome.

Richard Pryor is my current obsession. Bought Live On The Sunset Strip & Here and Now for cheap at Virgin. Obtained That Nigger's Crazy and Is it Something I Said audio albums elsewhere for free. Very strong material. I'd love to see some old Robin William's standup.
